Toronto’s drug checking service launches interactive website

Toronto, Canada – On behalf of its partners, Toronto’s drug checking service is excited to announce the launch of the program’s interactive website: www.drugchecking.cdpe.org.

We know the contaminated unregulated drug supply is the main contributor to overdoses in Toronto and elsewhere in Canada. Since October of 2019, Toronto’s drug checking service has been offering people who use drugs timely and detailed information on the contents of their drugs at five harm reduction agencies in the downtown core where supervised consumption services are also offered.

Having checked over 1000 samples in its first year, Toronto’s drug checking service will now publicly share regular drug market information, supporting more evidence-based harm reduction practices, policy, research, and care for people who use drugs. Information about substances checked will be updated every other week to begin. The website also houses regularly released reports and alerts.

All of the data from our interactive website has also been incorporated into the Toronto Overdose Information System (TOIS). Drug checking results are now available along with other harm reduction data such as paramedic responses, hospital visits and supervised injection services at The Works.
